Apple fans and those interested in buying the new iPhone 5
might have to wait longer than hoped. According to research firm Piper
Jaffray, the delay is related to problems with delivery of a Qualcomm
chipset that's to be integrated into iPhone 5.
More specifically, it is the modem chipset developed on a new technology
(28 nm), chipset dedicated to Internet connection in LTE networks.
The market demand for this chipset is very high, and Qualcomm is urged
to spend more money to speed up production. According to Qualcomm CFO,
Bill Keitel, they are spending tens of millions of dollars on this
project.
